  10. SUBJECT:  TNG  -  Training for RACES people  -  Part 1/3
  11.      What kind of training could or should be given RACES
  12. operators by disaster response (OES, CD, etc.) organizations? The
  13. following are some worthwhile meeting and training topics
  14. submitted by volunteers and paid staff in California, Nevada,
  15. Colorado and Utah.  Every effort to provide handouts should be
  16. made. A three-ring binder format is successful.
  17.      These are not shown in any particular order of priority nor
  18. does it reflect ALL the topics that could be covered.  These are
  19. simply the most common topics that should be covered for all
  20. Amateur Radio operators assigned to a local government's RACES
  21. unit.
  22. 1. Write or update the RACES Plan.
  23. 2. Agency policies, procedures, practices and philosophies.
  24. 3. Message form and message center (handling) procedures. Keep it
  25. simple!
  26. 4. Names and titles of key local government leaders, department
  27. heads, and division chiefs.
  28. 5. Incident Command System (ICS) and ICS communications.
  29. 6. Mission of the organization.
  30. 7. Inter-agency relationships.
  31. 8. Inter-government relationships.
